Ethiopia-Djibouti SGR set to open up the nations’ economic potential.

In 2016, Ethiopia and Djibouti governments launched the first fully electrified cross border railway line in Africa. The 466 miles line connects Ethiopia’s capital city, Addis Ababa to the red sea port of Djibouti, serving a great logistical advantage to the land locked Eastern African nation that has a population of over 100 million people.

Comparatively this electric line compares only to similar projects in South Africa such as the bombardier line in Johannesburg that contributes greatly to the ease of traffic flow and commuter transport and essentially the economy of South Africa at large.
