We are less than 200 people shy of hitting our 10,000 followers goal on Instagram. This will be a huge milestone for the Black Joy fam, which has worked hard in curating a space where er’body Black – no matter their likes or dislikes – can feel seen and heard. It’s been a little over a year since we claimed our little corner of social media and transformed it into an oasis of Blackness. In this space, Black mermaids tackle fat phobia and heal our racial trauma through water. In this space, we honor the divine within by honoring our ancestors. In this space, we activate core memories by chatting about our neighborhood candy ladies, HBCU homecomings and Black hair care stories.
