Comedian 2mbili Oversees Clearance of Late Shalkido’s House Ahead of Burial

Comedian 2mbili this week led a team to clear the rental home of the late Sailors Gang member, Shalkido, in preparation for his burial. The move comes less than a month after fellow comedian Oga Obinna had stepped in to pay six months’ rent for the young musician.
The team arrived at Shalkido’s residence to pack and move his belongings, which were being transferred to his grandmother’s home ahead of the funeral.
Landlord Agrees to Refund Rent
A significant development came when the landlord agreed to refund most of the rent previously paid by Obinna’s team. According to 2mbili, comedian Omosh liaised directly with the landlord, who expressed understanding of the tragic circumstances and cooperated fully.
“Omosh aliongea na the landlord and they are so good, manze they accepted to refund the rent. Now that Shalkido hata hakuwa amemaliza mwezi kwa hiyo nyumba,” 2mbili confirmed.
Shalkido had only stayed in the apartment for a short time before his passing. Though rent for six months had been paid upfront, the landlord’s team refunded the remaining balance after deducting a two-month portion.
Moving Shalkido’s Belongings
The clearance was coordinated to align with funeral preparations. The household items—including a bed, mattress, couch, and small table—were initially intended for Shalkido’s grandmother’s home in Matangi, Kimbo, Ruiru, where the burial is set to take place.
However, reports later indicated that the belongings were eventually delivered to his father’s home, following discussions with family members on where they would best be accommodated.
Mori, Shalkido’s cousin, confirmed he had lived with the late artist in the rental property. He moved out shortly after Shalkido’s passing and only returned on the day the team came to collect the items.
Final Farewell Preparations
Meanwhile, funeral arrangements are well underway. A requiem mass has been scheduled at All Saints Cathedral, after which the burial will be held at the family’s rural home in Matangi, Ruiru.
The refund from the landlord—covering both the deposit and rent balance—has already been processed, according to 2mbili’s team.
As family, friends, and colleagues continue to mourn, efforts remain focused on ensuring Shalkido receives a dignified and peaceful send-off, befitting the young artist who helped shape Kenya’s Gengetone sound.
