The ideology and reality of cultural appropriation goes back as far as the 17th century and perhaps even beyond. In our current predisposition and era of diversity the issue of cultural appropriation that is closely linked to the concept of assimilation has come to the forefront of many social cultural debates around the world. Culture appropriation which essentially means the adoption of some elements of one culture by members of another culture, has more reaching effects than just the social cultural realm, extending to the economic sphere in the current capitalist and extortionist era we are living in.
