University of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young was arrested Tuesday morning on misdemeanor charges of assault on an unborn child and battery.

Athens-Clarke County police were dispatched to a battery call Tuesday morning, according to the ACCPD report. Upon arrival, the officer met with Young’s ex-girlfriend, who reported that she had gone to Young’s apartment to discuss their relationship. According to the police report, the discussion became heated when she confronted Young about possible infidelity.

The ex-girlfriend told the officer that Young grabbed her arm and physically pulled her out of his room, using derogatory language, the report said. She said he later picked her up from behind, squeezing her torso and abdomen. The officer noted visible bruising on the right side of her chest and redness on her flank.

Young denied causing the injuries, stating that while the argument had gotten heated, he only escorted her to the door. However, based on the physical evidence and the circumstances, the officer found probable cause to arrest Young, the police report stated.

According to the Athens-Clarke County jail log, Young was booked at 4:18 a.m., with bond set at $2,500 for the battery charge.

Young is the seventh Georgia player to be arrested since March 2024.
