Large building fire in Hammond shuts down U-S Highway 190

U.S. Highway 190 W. near Lowes has reopened in Hammond after a large fire Saturday morning. The fire has been extinguished and no injuries have been reported. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal and Hammond Fire Prevention are investigating the fire.Highway 190 West had to be shut down from Lowe’s to Westin Oaks for a short period because of the flames.Hammond Fire Department along with several surrounding fire crews worked to extinguish the fire. It is still unclear what caused the fire. This incident remains under investigation.
