U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem bashed Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s policies toward migrants in Springfield on Wednesday by invoking the name of a 24-year-old community activist killed two years ago, allegedly by an immigrant in the country illegally.
On a street near where Emma Shafer was stabbed, Noem said the state’s sanctuary status and legal prohibition against police cooperation with immigration officials endanger lives.
