Make no bones about it, new Memphis athletic director Ed Scott’s resume speaks for itself.
He comes to Memphis after spending two years as the deputy athletic director at the University of Virginia. His stint with the Cavaliers came after a five-year run as the athletic director at Morgan State.
The 2021-22 Cushman & Wakefield Athletic Director of the Year secured Morgan State’s first-ever comprehensive apparel deal with Under Armour during his tenure. The track and football field at Hughes Stadium, Hill Field House, Lois T. Murray softball field and Hurt Gymnasium all experienced renovations under Scott’s leadership. And his vision also helped bring a new student-athlete academic center to Morgan State.
When Scott approached the podium Friday during his introductory press conference as a fully qualified hire with a proven track record, he made Memphis history.
