Minneapolis shooting latest: Children aged eight and 10 killed while praying during school mass, US police say | US News

We’re now hearing from the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, who is speaking to the media.
He describes the shooting as a “horror” and an “unspeakable act”.
“Children are dead, there are families that have a deceased child, you cannot put into words the gravity, the tragic or absolute pain of this situation,” he says.
The community doesn’t want prayers, he says, visibly emotional: “These kids were literally praying, it was the first week of school.
“They were in a church, these are kids that should be learning with their friends.”
Frey adds that he is “so deeply saddened” by the shooting, and says “I’m so sorry to the families that are suffering right now.”
