Missouri softball opened its season with the team’s annual Black & Gold scrimmage Sunday at Devine Pavilion.
Senior Kara Daly was the star of the show with two home runs and a double as the former Jefferson City star helped Team Black secure a 10-4 victory over Team Gold. Sophomore Stefania Abruscato hit a home run for Team Gold.
The Tigers’ season begins at the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Friday in Clearwater, Florida. Mizzou will face Marshall at noon and No. 20 Northwestern at 3 p.m. on Day 1 of the tournament.
MU wrestling falls to Oklahoma State
It was a tough weekend in Oklahoma for No. 20 Mizzou wrestling, as the Tigers wrapped up their visit to the Sooner State with a 36-3 loss to No. 3 Oklahoma State in Stillwater. On Saturday, Mizzou fell 23-13 to No. 22 Oklahoma in Norman.
Only one wrestler logged a match win for the Tigers in the loss to the Cowboys. Redshirt junior Josh Edmond defeated Kolter Burton by 11-4 decision in their 141-pound bout. Edmond managed several takedowns and had an impressive finish to the match as the lone bright spot for Mizzou (5-9, 4-3 Big 12).
Mizzou next faces No. 13 Iowa State in the team’s final regular-season dual at noon Feb. 22 at the Hearnes Center.
Columbia baseball sweeps second doubleheader vs. Graceland
After splitting its doubleheader against Graceland on Saturday, Columbia College baseball had a much more dominant go-round in its second doubleheader against the Yellowjackets. The Cougars swept the doubleheader in convincing fashion, winning 5-2 and 10-0 at Battle High School.
Columbia next faces Spring Arbor at 10 a.m. and No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the MidAmerica Sports Complex in Shawnee, Kansas.
