Moses the Black Trailer Released Starring Omar Epps

A trailer has been released for the upcoming film, Moses the Black, offering a glimpse into a crime story set in modern Chicago. The film, presented by Simeon Faith, the NM Cinematic Fund, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, explores the repercussions of violence.

Film Inspiration and Narrative

Moses the Black draws inspiration from the story of the 4th century saint, reimagining a path of repentance within the context of contemporary gang life in Chicago. The narrative focuses on escalating power struggles and the consequences of choices made by the characters.

Main Characters and Cast

Omar Epps portrays Malik, a gang leader facing increasing pressure. Wiz Khalifa plays 2wo-3ree, the leader of Malik’s younger crew, creating an uneasy alliance. Quavo takes on the role of Straw, a rival gang leader whose actions fuel the film’s central conflict. Chukwudi Iwuji portrays St. Moses the Black, connecting the modern storyline to its historical roots.

Supporting Cast

The film features a supporting cast including Corey Hendrix, Cliff Chamberlain, Ahmad Ferguson, Sambou “Bubba” Camara, Kierra Bunch, Skilla Baby, and Deontay Wilder.

Production Details and Release Date

Yelena Popovic directs Moses the Black, building on her previous directorial work including L.A. Superheroes and Man of God. Fathom Entertainment will release the film in theaters nationwide on January 30th, 2026.
