Written by Black Hot Fire Network on April 1, 2023
MILWAUKEE — March 31 is known annually as International Transgender Day of Visibility.
It’s a day to celebrate trans and non-binary people while also raising awareness of the discrimination facing the community worldwide.
In the last nine months, at least three transgender women - Brazil Johnson, Regina Allen and now Cashay Henderson - have been killed in Milwaukee County.
To commemorate the day, County Executive David Crowley signed a resolution declaring Milwaukee County’s official opposition to conversion therapy practices.
