This year, our state park system turns a robust 125 years old. It’s an anniversary worth celebrating, but I’m not cheering the occasion with full throated enthusiasm.
That’s because of the continuing harm done to our parks by the policies of former Gov. Scott Walker, which have been kept largely in place by the Republican-controlled Legislature.
Interstate State Park along the St. Croix River was established in 1900. Since then, our parks system has expanded to every corner of our state. There are now 50 state parks, 15 state forests, 44 . . .
