St. Moritz to Host IBSF World Cup and 2026 European Championships

The IBSF Bobsleigh + Skeleton World Cup at the St. Moritz-Celerina Olympia Bobrun track in Switzerland will feature athletes competing in seven disciplines for World Cup points, Olympic qualification, and European Championship titles. This event, the sixth of seven World Cup events in the 2025/2026 season, also serves as the 2026 European Championship. The St. Moritz-Celerina Olympia Bobrun track is the only natural sliding track remaining that hosts bobsleigh and skeleton races, measuring 1,722 meters and handcrafted from snow annually.

Women’s Skeleton

Janine Flock of Austria, the defending European Champion and current World Cup leader, is expected to compete. Amelia Coltman (GBR) and Kimberley Bos (NED) secured silver and bronze medals at the 2025 European Championship. Kim Meylemans of Belgium is currently in second place in the IBSF World Cup overall standings, followed by Jacqueline Pfeifer (GER). Sara Schmied and Julia Simmchen of Switzerland are currently 24th and 30th in the overall standings.

Men’s Skeleton

Great Britain’s Matt Weston leads the overall standings following four men’s skeleton races. The St. Moritz track will host two races in this discipline: a rescheduled race from Winterberg on Wednesday, January 7th, and the St. Moritz IBSF World Cup and European Championship race on Friday, January 9th. Samuel Maier (AUT) is the defending European Champion. Vinzenz and Valentino Buff of Switzerland will compete on their home track.

A moment of silence will be observed in St. Moritz at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7th, to honor the victims of the fire disaster in Crans-Montana. The IBSF will observe the silence during a specific timeframe, interrupting the World Cup schedule.

Skeleton Mixed Team

This year’s IBSF World Cup race will be the first time European Champions are crowned in the skeleton mixed team event. Team GBR 1 currently leads the overall standings for the mixed team event in the IBSF World Cup.
