US consumers gear up for bargain hunt amid ‘Black Friday’ spree

U.S. consumers are coming out in force this holiday season, but festiveness and spending are still being tempered by inflationary pressures that have abated but not completely faded following the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the sticker shock during the latter stages of the pandemic, a familiar frustration has settled in toward consumer prices that remain broadly elevated even if they have stopped rising rapidly.
