King of Dancehall Vybz Kartel has announced plans to perform in Kenya next year.
The iconic artist, affectionately known as World Boss by his loyal fans, shared the exciting news while discussing his upcoming African concert schedule.
During an interview on the Brando Music Review show on YouTube on September 25, Kartel expressed his gratitude for the immense support he receives from his Kenyan audience.
In a five-part series, he covered various topics, including his near decision to quit music and the significance of artists owning their work. He referred to his imprisonment as a negative experience but noted the need to “make the good of a bad situation.”
Kartel stated that he intends to tour Africa, which he estimates will take one to two months. “Next year, I will be there. You can’t just do two shows and leave; you need to commit to a tour for at least a month or two,” he affirmed.
He emphasized his connection with Kenyan fans, stating, “The people of Kenya consider me one of their own.”
In a brief video segment, Kartel mentioned that he plans to focus on several African countries, including Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda, Nigeria, Congo, and Senegal.
The artist behind the hit “Poor People Land” is widely beloved, and news of his release from prison has thrilled his Kenyan supporters. There was much speculation that he would prioritize Kenya for his concert, as fans frequently tagged him on social media, expressing their anticipation.
Kartel’s release in July was hailed as a major legal victory after the Court of Appeal decided against ordering a retrial for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, resulting in his freedom.
