THIS is the explosive moment Ukraine’s navy blow up an elite Russian special forces unit stationed on a Black Sea oil rig.
An anti-tank missile crew was reportedly eliminated in the suicide drone strikes along with key reconnaissance equipment in another humiliating blow for Vladimir Putin and his failing war.
Ukraine‘s fearless navy announced they successfully targeted the Syvash drilling platform near Russian-occupied Crimea on Monday.
Moscow strongly disputed the claims as they released footage purportedly showing a Ukrainian boat being destroyed by a Lancet drone.
Ukrainian officials then sensationally thanked Russia for sharing the video.
Kyiv‘s military explained that the footage actually shows Ukrainian forces successfully deploying a suicide drone against the Russians and the huge rig.
They said it was another example of Putin’s men “trying to give another defeat for victory”.
The footage shared by the Ukrainians shows a navy vessel approaching the giant rig out in the Black Sea.
Then a drone quickly appears in shot hurtling towards it.
A huge blast erupts as the drone smashes into the rig and sends a plume of black smoke billowing into the air.
Another angle directly from the drones point of view shows it flying above and around the rig planning its attack.
After locating a weak spot in the platform, the drone goes in for the kill – smashing up the front of the rig in brutal fashion.
Another angle goes on to show several Russian soldiers stationed on the rig running for their lives as the drone locks on to their positions.
Little white figures can be spotted darting above the water before the camera cuts to another devastating explosion.
The Syvash platform is one of four offshore rigs which make up the Boyko Towers which were all seized by Russia following its 2014 annexation of Crimea.
These also include the Petro Hodovanets, Tavryda and Ukraina.
The Syvash is a self-elevating drilling rig which was operated by Ukraine’s state-owned Chornomornaftogaz company for oil and gas exploration before it was stolen.
Russia went on to transform the Boyko Towers with intelligence and electronic warfare equipment.
Moscow would use them to monitor surface, air and subsurface activity in the Black Sea between Crimea and Odesa.
Ukraine has frequently targeted Russia’s oil rigs during the gruelling years on war.
Back in December, footage captured one of Putin’s gas rigs in the Black Sea bursting into flames after being hammered by sea drones.
The drones attack the structure at their base while air drones strike the platform.
Clips show rigs engulfed in massive blazes while others show huge explosions on the platforms as the drones strike.
And last August, Ukraine dealt Putin a huge blow after blasting a Russian gas rig in the Black Sea, killing 40 soldiers.
The decimated rig was packed with “reconnaissance equipment” to help with Russia’s war effort, according to Ukrainian media.
