What word comes to mind when you think of Black futures?

That’s the question of the week.

February marks Black History Month.

While learning about the past can be important, many young people are taking a more forward-looking approach to how they mark the month.

That’s where the term Black futures comes in.

In 2023, CBC Kids News spoke to kids from the Black Student Union at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph, Ontario.

We asked them what Black futures makes them think about.

Examples that came up were “progression” and “Black excellence.”

What word comes to mind when you think of Black futures? Make sure to tell us why you picked that word.

Have your say by filling out this form, then check back next week to see if your answer is featured on our site.
