Kenya Launches Health Reform to Reduce Maternal and Infant Deaths

Kenya is implementing sustained, wholesome health reform and delivery of services aimed at curbing maternal and neo-natal mortality, according to President William Ruto. The government has restructured Kenya’s health financing framework to expand pre-paid access to maternal care through the newly established Social Health Authority.

Health Financing Reforms

The government has facilitated direct coverage for 50,000 vulnerable adolescent mothers. This coverage guarantees access to ante-natal, safe delivery, and post-natal services.
