AFLIGA Selects Second Cohort for Women in Global Leadership

The Africa Future Leaders Institute of Global Affairs (AFLIGA) has announced the commencement of the Second Cohort of its African Women in Global Leadership Programme. This five-weekend executive academic initiative is designed for African female professionals in governance, diplomacy, corporate leadership, and public policy.
The program aims to strengthen Africa’s leadership architecture by equipping participants with advanced strategic, analytical, and institutional leadership competencies.
Programme Details
The African Women in Global Leadership Programme will be delivered virtually over five consecutive Saturdays: April 11, 18, and 25, and May 2 and 9, 2026. Sessions will run from 11:00 AM GMT, 1:00 PM EAT, or 12:00 PM SAT, and each session will last 1.5 hours. The curriculum will include interactive workshops, expert panels, case-based analysis, leadership simulations, and peer exchange.
Academic Framework
The program is structured into five thematic modules:
Week 1: Women’s Leadership in a Changing World – This module explores systemic barriers and gendered governance structures in Africa, featuring case studies of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Akua Kuenyehia.
Week 2: Women Driving Africa’s Global Integration – This module examines Africa’s positioning within the global political economy, highlighting the leadership trajectories of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Amina J. Mohammed.
Week 3: Digital Transformation, AI, and Women’s Influence in Global Affairs – This module analyzes the intersection of artificial intelligence, fintech, and governance, drawing from case studies including Rebecca Enonchong and Lindiwe Matlali.
Week 4: Women as Peacebuilders and Global Change Agents – This module focuses on diplomacy, security, and international justice, referencing Leymah Gbowee, Fatou Bensouda, and Lindiwe Zulu.
Week 5: Advancing Inclusive Leadership and Addressing Gender-Based Violence – This module addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) frameworks and structural reforms, including a national case study of Côte d’Ivoire.
Applied Learning and Impact
To ensure measurable outcomes, participants will engage in Capstone Action Projects (policy briefs, advocacy strategies, or scalable enterprise models), Implementation Labs (skill-based workshops focused on DEI policy design and AfCFTA-aligned initiatives), and receive Templates and Toolkits (practical resources for leadership planning and GBV-responsive workplace protocols). Participants will also receive Monitoring and Evaluation Training to assess leadership and project impact.
Alumni and Mentorship
Following the academic phase, the program will incorporate structured mentorship pairings with senior African female leaders, quarterly leadership forums, and a digital alumni platform to foster sustained collaboration and professional advancement.
