Professional Background
Happy Ralinala possesses extensive experience in strategic business management, business banking, wealth and private banking, and enterprise development. She previously held executive positions at Barclays Africa Group, including Managing Executive of Business Banking South Africa and Managing Executive of Private and Wealth Banking.
During her time at Barclays Africa Group, Ralinala led the business to recognition as the Best SME Bank in South Africa by Capital Finance International (CFI). Her career history also includes senior leadership roles at FNB, Afrox, Thebe Risk & Benefits, Discovery, and Sizwe Medical Services.
Education and Board Experience
Ralinala holds an MBA and an MPhil in International Business, and is an alumna of the Oxford Bank Governance Programme. She has served on several private and public sector boards, including African Bank, Grindrod Bank, FNZ Silica, the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA), and the National Development Agency. This experience has provided her with insights into risk management, transformation, sustainability, and financial inclusion.
Role and Responsibilities
In her new role, Ralinala will support the strategic and operational leadership of the Business and Commercial division.
