The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced that the Beninese singer will be honored on August 18, 2026, in the Recording category. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard, where Kidjo will receive the 2,854th star on the famous landmark.
The honor carries additional historical significance. Kidjo will become the first African musician and the first Black African performer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Actor Willem Dafoe and Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. are expected to participate in the ceremony.
Kidjo has built an international career spanning Afropop, jazz, funk and world music, earning five Grammy Awards along the way. Her work has also included collaborations with artists from different generations and musical backgrounds.
The recognition arrives during an active period for Kidjo, who released her album HOPE!! in 2026 with contributions from Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Quavo and other artists.
