Each February, Black History Month is observed across Canada with events and celebrations recognizing the legacy and contributions of Black people and their communities.
The theme for the 2026 Black History Month is “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations — From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.” This theme marks three decades of Black History Month in Canada, highlighting the ongoing contributions of Black Canadians throughout history. It acknowledges the significant roles of nation builders who advocated for civil rights, advanced social justice, and influenced Canada’s cultural and political landscape, while also recognizing emerging leaders and innovators shaping the future.
