Flávio Bolsonaro has arrived in Florida amid mounting legal scrutiny in Brazil after the Supreme Court ordered his passports canceled. The Brazilian senator, who lost the presidential run-off to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, met his younger brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, in the United States.
The investigations involve alleged money laundering, financing for a documentary about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, and claims of illicit foreign funding for his presidential campaign. Flávio Bolsonaro denies doing business with the lawyer linked to the money laundering inquiry and has described the passport action as intimidation.
His travel route and plans to remain in the United States are still unclear. The developments also come amid an unresolved dispute over Brazil’s presidential election, which Bolsonaro has formally challenged.
