Busta Rhymes and J. Dilla Deliver a Funky Hip-Hop Gem With “Talk Ya Shit” Featuring Lil Wayne

It’s crazy how timeless this track sounds.

The world is a better place when Busta Rhymes is active, and that is exactly what we’re getting. Soon, he will drop a new project with the late, legendary producer J. Dilla called Dillagence 2. While we already got a preview with “Spazzz,” another single has landed on streaming services, and this one features Lil Wayne.

“Talk Ya Shit” has what I would call eccentric production that carries a hip-hop soul but also has an almost funky sound that James Brown would probably break several sweats to. Dilla’s production gives Busta and Wayne plenty of room to have fun with the track.

Busta comes through with a relaxed delivery, but the bars let you know he’s ready for more smoke than someone trying to cook jolloff rice. As for Lil Wayne, you get a classic verse where the punchlines flow, his delivery stays dynamic, and the confidence is turned all the way up. I’m guessing their past chemistry allowed their chemistry on this track to feel completely natural.

The track feels like it could have fit in any era. That’s the beauty of Dilla’s production: it still sounds fresh while carrying that timeless quality.
