The Denton Black Film Festival (DBFF), presented by NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and the Denton Black Film Institute, will take place from January 28 to February 1. The 2026 festival’s theme is “Hope and Courage.”
The DBFF provides a platform for filmmakers, creatives, and film enthusiasts to connect through screenings, workshops, and panel discussions. This year’s festival features 95 independent films and other media offerings.
Beyond film screenings, the DBFF includes performances and exhibitions in music, comedy, spoken word, and art. The event aims to celebrate Black culture through various forms of storytelling.
The DBFF is open to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The festival operates in a hybrid format, with in-person events and online access. Virtual access to the festival’s films will be available from February 1 to 8.
Various pass options are available for purchase, including the VIP All Experience Pass, Film Only Experience Pass, Virtual Only Experience Pass, and the Five Block Film Pass. Details on pass options and pricing can be found on the DBFF website.
In-person events will be held at multiple locations in and around Denton, with most film screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Denton and venues near the historic Downtown Square. Further information about the festival and event locations is available on the DBFF website.
