Ministers responsible for tourism and wildlife across the East African Community (EAC) have adopted a comprehensive ten-year marketing strategy and committed to leveraging the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to boost regional travel.
Concluded at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, the 13th meeting of the Sectoral Council on Tourism and Wildlife Management greenlit the “Visit East Africa: Feel the Vibe” strategy spanning 2027 to 2036. The framework aims to market the bloc as a unified destination through digital campaigns, harmonised hospitality standards, and cross-border travel packages.
Officials highlighted that the 2027 AFCON tournament presents a major opportunity to showcase East Africa’s attractions to international visitors, extending tourism benefits well beyond the host nations to the wider regional community.
