Kenya U20 winger Elly Owande has joined Gor Mahia on a short-term deal. This move follows his recent departure from Al Nasr in the United Arab Emirates and a brief return to Migori Youth.
Elly Owande recently terminated his contract with Al Nasr, a Dubai-based club, by mutual agreement. Prior to this, he had signed with Migori Youth after returning to Kenya. Migori Youth has now loaned Owande to Gor Mahia.
The 20-year-old attacker initially joined Al Nasr in September 2024 after a series of trials and friendly matches. His performances impressed the club’s technical bench, leading to a three-year contract. Al Nasr indicated that Owande would initially play for their U23 team to adapt to the club’s structure.
After only a few months, Owande and Al Nasr mutually agreed to end the contract. Sources suggest the separation was amicable, allowing Owande to pursue other opportunities. The specific reasons for the termination were not publicly disclosed.
Owande began his football journey with Migori Youth at the age of nine. He has frequently acknowledged the club’s role in his development as a player. He will reunite with teammate Ben Stanley Omondi, who is currently on loan at Gor Mahia.
