The Hong Kong Triathlon World Cup 2026 will be held on November 7th and 8th, with eight Spanish athletes provisionally registered for the individual races. David Castro, Izan Edo, María Casals, and Alejandra Seguí are among the national representatives at the event, which also includes a mixed relay cup.
The competition will take place in the Lung Wo Road area of Hong Kong, with the elite men’s and women’s sprint distance races on Saturday and the mixed relay on Sunday. Spanish fans will have to get up early to follow the individual races, scheduled for the early hours of Saturday morning.
The World Triathlon start lists include five Spaniards in the men’s category and three in the women’s , although changes may still occur before the competition.
In the men’s event, David Castro Fajardo, Izan Edo Aguilar, Eloy Canales Escribano, Andrés Prieto Villar and Andrés Hilario Morales appear.
Castro arrives in Hong Kong after finishing fourth in the Tongyeong World Cup , held on October 24 in South Korea. In that race, won by Alberto González, the Spaniard missed the podium by nine seconds.
In the female category, the registered Spanish representatives are María Casals Mojica, Alejandra Seguí Soria and Cecilia Santamaría Surroca.
Among the international rivals listed in the provisional lists are New Zealander Hayden Wilde and Swiss Max Studer in the men’s competition, while Italian Bianca Seregni and Luxembourger Jeanne Lehair are among those registered in the women’s competition.
Registrations and any changes can be found in the World Triathlon men’s and women’s start lists .
Swiss runner Max Studer is one of the favorites in the men’s race after winning the World Cup in Beijing and finishing second in Tongyeong. There, he recorded the fastest running split of 14:21 for the 5 kilometers, but Alberto González beat him by seven seconds.
González, winner in Hong Kong in 2024, is not on the starting list for this edition. Among the Spaniards, David Castro arrives after finishing fourth in Tongyeong, nine seconds off the podium. Eloy Canales , meanwhile, finished 13th in both Beijing and Tongyeong.
Another name to watch is Australian Callum McClusky , who will be competing with bib number two. Hayden Wilde appears on the provisional list consulted by TN, although he is not among the top contenders in the official World Triathlon preview. His participation should be checked again before the start; his absence from the preview does not necessarily mean he has withdrawn.
Jeanne Lehair will return to competition after finishing 19th in the Pontevedra Grand Final. The Luxembourger, seventh in the 2026 World Series standings, will compete in Hong Kong before the Abu Dhabi event, rescheduled for the end of the season.
Russian Diana Isakova arrives fresh from winning the Rome World Cup, where she clocked a 15:48 split for the final 5 kilometers. Also competing will be Anqi Huang , who finished second in Tongyeong, three seconds behind her compatriot Xinyu Lin, despite serving a ten-second penalty; she ran the 5 kilometers there in 16:36.
Italy’s Bianca Seregni , fifth in Rome and winner of the Mediterranean Games in Taranto in August, is another of the top contenders. According to the provisional list, Spain will be represented by María Casals, Alejandra Seguí, and Cecilia Santamaría.
Hong Kong is the third stop on a four-event Asian World Cup tour. In addition to medals, points will be awarded toward Olympic qualification for Los Angeles 2028. World Triathlon has published separate men’s and women’s previews with the sporting context of the event.
The three races are scheduled at the following times, expressed in Spanish peninsular time:
| Daytime | Discipline | Spanish time |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday November 7 | Female Elite | 01: 45 pm |
| Saturday November 7 | Male Elite | 03: 30 pm |
| Sunday November 8 | mixed relay | 07: 00 pm |
The individual events will be contested over a sprint distance, with 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running.
Sunday’s events will be dedicated to the Mixed Relay Cup, which was added to the Hong Kong program during the calendar expansion announced by World Triathlon in April.
Teams and their members must be checked against the corresponding relay lists. Registration of Spanish athletes in individual races does not necessarily guarantee their participation in Sunday’s race.
The individual races and the mixed relay are included in the programming of TriathlonLive , the official broadcasting platform of World Triathlon.
Fans can check access options and the schedule for the three events directly on the platform.
In addition, World Triathlon will offer live timing tracking , with information on race developments and access to official rankings when available.
The provisional program and start lists can also be reviewed on the official Hong Kong 2026 World Cup information sheet.
