Human Rights in Global Disorder Discussed at ATU Donegal

Amnesty International Ireland’s Letterkenny group is hosting a lecture focused on human rights. The event, titled “Human Rights and the Global Disorder,” will be presented by Amnesty Ireland Executive Director Stephen Bowen.
The lecture is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, at 10:30am and will conclude at 12 noon, taking place in room 1104 at ATU Donegal’s Letterkenny campus. It is being held in conjunction with ATU Law Society and the Palestine Solidarity Society and is open to the public.
About the Speaker
Stephen Bowen is a social justice and human rights advocate, lawyer, and academic with over 30 years of experience in human rights work. He initially trained as a barrister and practiced law before joining the United Nations as Chief Human Rights Officer to the UN Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH) during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.
Previous Roles and Affiliations
Bowen has held senior positions within various human rights non-governmental organizations, including Campaigns Director for Amnesty International UK, Chief Executive Officer of the British Institute of Human Rights, and Legal Adviser to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights. He has also served as Director of the Sigrid Rausing Trust, Programme Director for the International Human Rights Law Group, and Director of FIELD (Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development).
He currently serves as a Trustee of Manchester Pride and of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare, a faculty of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
