The Kenya Actors Guild (KAG) is set to unveil a digital casting and talent platform.

The forum is designed to transform how actors and other creative talent access opportunities and connect with casting professionals, producers, agencies, brands and other industry players.

The new platform is part of the Guild’s broader commitment to professionalising Kenya’s acting and performing arts sector.

This is by creating better access to opportunities, increasing visibility for talent and strengthening connections between performers and those seeking talent for film, television, advertising, theatre, digital content and other creative productions.

For many years, actors and other performers have relied heavily on informal networks, social media groups, personal referrals and word of mouth to discover casting opportunities.

The upcoming digital casting platform seeks to change this by providing a structured digital platform where talent can create professional profiles showcasing their skills, experience, photographs, showreels and other relevant information.

Through the platform, casting directors, producers, production companies, advertising agencies, brands and other industry professionals will be able to discover and connect with suitable talent more efficiently.

The platform will support a broad range of talent, including actors, models, presenters, voice-over artists, dancers, musicians, content creators, extras and other performers required across the creative industry.

The Kenya Actors Guild believes that technology can play an important role in addressing some of the long-standing challenges facing actors.

Of particular interest is access to credible opportunities and professional visibility.

The digital platform is therefore intended to become an important industry infrastructure connecting talent to opportunity.

Through the platform, actors and other talent will be able to maintain professional digital profiles that can be discovered by industry professionals looking for specific skills, characteristics and experience.

The platform will also provide a structured environment for publishing and discovering casting calls and other talent opportunities.

Beyond connecting talent with opportunities, the platform forms part of KAG’s wider agenda of strengthening professionalism within Kenya’s creative sector.

The Guild intends to use the platform to encourage better industry practices, improve talent discovery and help build a more organised and accessible database of Kenyan creative talent.

The platform will also make it easier for emerging talent outside traditional industry networks to become visible and compete for opportunities.

This is particularly important as Kenya’s film, television, advertising, digital content and creative industries continue to grow and require increasingly diverse talent.

While the initial focus will be on strengthening Kenya’s casting ecosystem, the long-term vision is to position the platform as a gateway through which Kenyan talent can access opportunities locally, regionally and internationally.

The platform will showcase the depth and diversity of Kenyan talent and make it easier for international production companies, casting professionals and creative organisations looking to work in Kenya to discover local performers.

The launch of a digital casting platform also supports the broader development of Kenya’s creative economy by creating digital infrastructure that can help turn creative talent into sustainable professional opportunities.

KAG believes that improving access to work is one of the most important interventions that can be made for actors and performers.

The Kenya Actors Guild will announce the official unveiling date, registration process and further details regarding the digital casting platform soon.
