Kenya drawn into tough group for 2026 WAFCON

The groups for the 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) have been drawn in Rabat, Morocco. The tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA World Cup, will feature several nations vying for a spot in the global competition.

The draw, conducted on Thursday, determined the matchups for the group stage.

Group Stage Matchups

Group A includes Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya. Kenya, coached by Beldine Oemba, will begin their campaign on March 17th against the host nation, Morocco.

Group B consists of South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.

Defending champions Nigeria are placed in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi.

Group D features Ghana, Mali, Cape Verde, and Cameroon.

Venues

Matches in Group A will be held at the Moulay Hassan stadium in Rabat. Group B games will take place at the Al Madina stadium, also in Rabat.

Group C fixtures are scheduled for Casablanca, while Group D will be played at the Fes Sports Complex.

Qualifying and Final Details

The final of the WAFCON is set for April 3rd. The top four nations from the tournament will qualify for the 2027 FIFA World Cup.

Kenya is returning to the WAFCON for the first time since 2016.
