Kenyan officials meet with Indian health authorities in Delhi

A Kenyan delegation visited the National Health Authority (NHA) in New Delhi today to exchange knowledge regarding India’s digital health infrastructure and health insurance programs. The delegation, led by Dr. Gregory Ganda, County Minister for Health, Kisumu County, included senior officials representing both the national and county levels of Kenya’s health systems.
Knowledge Exchange and Program Briefings
The Kenyan delegation received briefings on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which utilizes a Digital Public Infrastructure approach. Discussions focused on the potential of interoperable infrastructure to improve drug logistics and utilization tracking. Both Kenya and India recognized the benefits of this approach for supply chain governance and promoting rational drug use.
Collaboration and Shared Goals
Both sides expressed a commitment to collaboratively designing solutions with the private sector and reducing costs through the use of shared digital public goods. NHA CEO Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal stated that this South-South collaboration will significantly contribute to building citizen-centric health systems.
