The Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), a division of the Parliament of Kenya, has announced a series of capacity-building courses for legislative staff. These courses are scheduled to take place from March to May 2026 at the County House Building, Parliament Square, Parliament Road in Nairobi.
Each of the four courses will run for five days and have a fee of Ksh40,000 per participant. This fee includes tuition, training materials, conference facilities, and a CPST-accredited certificate upon completion.
Protocol, Etiquette and Events Management in the Legislature
The first course, Protocol, Etiquette and Events Management in the Legislature, will be held from March 9th to 13th, 2026. It is designed for protocol officers, public relations officers, communication officers, and personal assistants who handle Very Important Persons (VIPs) and diplomats. Participants will learn skills to effectively manage events and enhance their legislature’s image through appropriate protocols.
Speaker’s Rules and Enforcement
The second course, Speaker’s Rules and Enforcement, runs from April 13th to 17th, 2026. This course is specifically for Serjeant-at-Arms and security officers working within Kenya’s legislatures at both national and county levels. The training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to enforce parliamentary rules and procedures.
Hansard Production in the Advent of Artificial Training (AI)
Running concurrently with the Speaker’s Rules course, from April 6th to 10th, 2026, is the Hansard Production in the Advent of Artificial Training (AI) course. This training targets Hansard audio officers and reporters across Kenya’s legislative institutions. Recognizing the transformation of the production process by Artificial Intelligence, the CPST will provide participants with alternative practices and methodologies in parliamentary reporting.
Legislative Media Relations Management
The final course, Legislative Media Relations Management, is scheduled for May 4th to 8th, 2026. This course is intended for Media Relations Officers working in county and national assemblies across Kenya.
County assemblies already participating in these trainings include Kitui, Kwale, Bungoma, and Murang’a, as well as the County Assemblies Forum.
