- Kenya Medical Training College has deepened its collaboration with German partners to create more international employment opportunities for graduates.
- A German delegation visited KMTC to explore cooperation in healthcare training, ethical recruitment and labour mobility.
- The partnership is expected to strengthen pathways for Kenyan health professionals seeking employment in Germany.
Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has strengthened its collaboration with German partners in a move aimed at expanding international employment opportunities for Kenyan health professionals.
The College hosted a German delegation under the African Skills for Germany Initiative on July 8, 2026, to explore opportunities for enhancing healthcare training and creating sustainable career pathways for KMTC graduates.
The delegation was led by the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Eastern Africa and Bavarian Representative for East Africa, Dagmar von Bohnstein.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on KMTC’s health professions education model, including classroom instruction, practical learning, clinical preparation and competency-based skills development.
The team also toured Nairobi Campus training facilities, including the skills laboratory and simulation laboratories, where students develop clinical competencies in simulated healthcare settings.
Expanding global opportunities
Speaking during the engagement, KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr Kelly Oluoch said the College remains committed to preparing graduates for both local and international opportunities.
“As an institution committed to producing globally competitive health professionals, we are keen on building collaborations that expand opportunities for our graduates while maintaining high standards of training and ethical practice,” Dr Oluoch said.
Dagmar von Bohnstein said the visit had provided valuable insights into KMTC’s training model and highlighted opportunities for future collaboration.
“The visit has given us an opportunity to understand KMTC’s training model and practical preparation. We see strong potential for collaboration in developing sustainable pathways that connect qualified Kenyan health professionals with opportunities in Germany,” she said.
Building on previous collaborations
The engagement builds on previous collaborations between KMTC and German institutions.
In October 2025, the College participated in the From Nairobi to Nürnberg initiative, which brought together stakeholders from Kenya and Germany to strengthen labour mobility and skills development.
Subsequent engagements, including sensitisation sessions for Physiotherapy students and discussions on language training, ethical recruitment and professional integration, have already resulted in employment opportunities for KMTC graduates.

Several Physiotherapy graduates have secured placements in Germany, while more candidates continue to prepare for recruitment.
