Presidential Aide’s Wife Shares Image Regarding Greenland, Drawing Response from Denmark
Recent social media activity from Katie Miller, wife of President Donald Trump’s aide Stephen Miller, has sparked diplomatic tensions. Miller shared an image depicting Greenland superimposed with the American flag, accompanied by the caption “SOON,” prompting a response from Denmark’s ambassador to the U.S.
Danish Ambassador to the U.S., Jesper Moeller, responded to Miller’s post on X. His statement emphasized the close alliance between the U.S. and the Kingdom of Denmark, highlighting shared security interests in the Arctic region. Moeller noted Denmark’s commitment to Arctic security, including a $13.7 billion investment planned for 2025. He also asserted the expectation of full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The image was posted shortly after news reports detailed a U.S. operation in Venezuela resulting in the capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. This action has drawn criticism from China, Russia, Iran, and the United Kingdom, which stated it had no involvement.
The Trump administration, including President Trump, Stephen Miller, and other officials, has previously expressed interest in annexing Greenland, a territory of Denmark. This interest has been attributed to security concerns.
In an interview with The Atlantic, President Trump reiterated the administration’s desire to annex Greenland, citing the need for enhanced defense capabilities. He stated, “We do need Greenland, absolutely. We need it for defense.”
Katie Miller’s post generated significant reactions on X. The post also references Mrs. Miller’s previous employment at a now-defunct company associated with Elon Musk.
