The Multidisciplinary Mobility for a Climate Resilient Africa (MMoCRA) programme is strengthening climate research capacity across Africa through an EU-funded academic mobility initiative that connects leading African and European universities.
Implemented under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, MMoCRA aims to develop a new generation of African scientists, engineers, and researchers equipped with the knowledge and skills required to address climate change challenges through innovative, multidisciplinary solutions.
The programme supports academic mobility, research collaboration, and knowledge exchange while promoting climate resilience, sustainable development, and cross-border cooperation among higher education institutions.
MMoCRA is designed to strengthen higher education and research capacity by creating opportunities for students, researchers, and academic staff to participate in mobility programmes across partner universities.
Through structured training and research exchanges, the initiative supports collaboration between African and European institutions while addressing critical climate-related challenges affecting communities across the continent.
The programme focuses on developing expertise in areas where climate resilience is increasingly important, including sustainable energy systems, agricultural transformation, and multidisciplinary approaches to climate adaptation.
MMoCRA provides a platform for researchers and students to collaborate on practical solutions that contribute to sustainable development and strengthen Africa’s ability to respond to environmental challenges.
The programme offers 95 mobility scholarships designed to support different categories of participants, including Master’s students, doctoral researchers, trainees, and academic staff.
The scholarship opportunities include:
• 44 Master’s mobility scholarships.
• 12 Doctoral mobility scholarships.
• 20 Trainee mobility scholarships.
• 19 Staff mobility scholarships.
These opportunities are intended to promote academic exchange, strengthen research networks, and provide participants with international learning experiences that enhance their professional development.
Through mobility opportunities, participants gain access to specialised expertise, advanced research environments, and collaborative networks focused on climate resilience.
