Moniepoint Launches DreamDevs Program for African Tech Talent
Written by Black Hot Fire Network Team on January 15, 2026
Moniepoint Inc., a digital financial service provider, has announced the opening of applications for the second cohort of its DreamDevs initiative. The program aims to develop technology talent across Nigeria and address the tech talent gap within the continent.
The announcement was made Thursday by Felix Ike, chief technology officer of Moniepoint Inc.
Program Overview
DreamDevs is a national talent search for high-potential software engineers. Each year, 20 candidates are selected for an intensive nine-week boot camp. Successful participants may progress to six-month internship placements at Moniepoint, with the possibility of full-time employment based on performance.
Past Success and Goals
The inaugural cohort of DreamDevs resulted in four hires, including three interns and one full-time engineer. Moniepoint aims to convert half of the participants in the second cohort into full-time employees. The initiative focuses on graduates of technology, computer science, and related disciplines with foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Training will be delivered by senior software engineers and will cover both technical and professional skills.
Alignment with Broader Initiatives
The DreamDevs program aligns with Moniepoint’s vision of using technology to promote financial inclusion across Africa. It complements other Moniepoint talent development initiatives, such as HatchDev, a collaboration with NITHub and the University of Lagos, which produces approximately 500 specialized developers annually. The program also supports the company’s Women-in-Tech program and the federal government’s Three Million Technical Talent program, for which Moniepoint is a key sponsor.
Participant Experience
Victor Adepoju, a backend engineer at Moniepoint and a beneficiary of the first cohort, described the program as impactful and well-organized. He noted the comprehensive training, particularly in cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform.
Application Details
Selection for the second cohort will be based on technical aptitude, learning potential, and alignment with Moniepoint’s values of innovation and excellence. Interested and qualified graduates are encouraged to apply before the January 20 deadline through dreamdevs.moniepoint.com.
