Nandi Madida is solidifying her empire across broadcasting, music and entrepreneurship.

On Thursday, radio station YFM announced that Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio with Nandi Madida will be syndicated on its airwaves every Sunday from November 1.

“It’s so beautiful to see this happening. It’s such an honour. The youth gets to tap into different genres. Even the timing of it all. The whole world is listening to African music. We don’t have to explain our genre. It’s so beautiful. We are not only the cradle of humankind, we‘re the cradle of all music, it started here,” the media personality told TshisaLIVE.

“Y has played an important role in shaping South Africa’s youth culture, music and sound over the years. It is an absolute honour to add to their legacy. I cannot wait to share amazing sounds and stories coming out of this beautiful continent.”

Since joining Africa Now Radio in 2023, Nandi has built a reputation for giving African artists a platform to speak directly to audiences around the world, interviewing artists including Rema, Tyla, Ayra Starr, TxC, BNXN, Nasty C and Angelique Kidjo, among many others.

Nandi said the collaboration highlights the evolving relationships between traditional radio and digital streaming platforms.

“Embracing evolution is by embracing the next generation. I’ve always done the best I can do, by collaborating with the young and older generation, which comes with humility.

“Collaborating with a younger group is what we need given the high unemployment rate in our country. Young people are brilliant minds; give them a chance.”

Having been making strides in the entertainment scene since she was 15-years-old, Nandi said that despite her ventures into the music space, broadcasting is her primary craft.

“Music is just a passion. I got scouted by Universal when I was really young. It’s just something that I could do, and I wanted to keep it there. But when it comes to television and radio, that’s the actual craft. I’m passionate about all of them, but I’m glad that music is just an outlet.”

Beyond the spotlight, Nandi is gearing up to expand her personal brand into the beauty space with a natural hair care line.

“Save your coins for me if you love your crown. Especially your natural hair. It’s that I’m really proud of, it’s just the next step. I’ve been intentional with the fact that we should embrace our hair and our skin.”
