Written by on March 6, 2026

Patrice Neveu, recently appointed coach of the Togo national football team, has voiced optimism regarding the project spearheaded by the Togolese Football Federation. He aims to rebuild and reform the national team, drawing on Togo’s history in African football, including its participation in the 2006 World Cup.

Rebuilding the National Team

Neveu, an experienced coach, stated his role is to revitalize the team and restore its ambition. Currently ranked 124th in the world, he emphasized the need for both short-term results and a long-term, sustainable organization. He intends to establish a clear structure and draw inspiration from successful models like Mauritania, where he previously managed the national team from 2012 to 2014. Neveu believes the national team should serve as a unifying force and showcase the nation’s talent.

Future Challenges

The former Syli National coach faces a significant challenge in securing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027. He acknowledges that considerable work lies ahead to achieve this goal and build a competitive squad.
