Kenya’s diaspora remittances have shown consistent growth in recent years, significantly impacting the nation’s foreign exchange earnings. These inflows represent a vital economic support system for the country.
Diaspora remittances to Kenya totaled $3.09 billion in 2020. This figure increased to $3.52 billion in 2021, demonstrating an initial upward trend.
The positive trend continued in 2022, with remittances reaching $4.03 billion. Further growth was observed in 2023, bringing the total to $4.19 billion.
In 2024, diaspora remittances reached $4.95 billion, indicating continued financial support from Kenyans residing abroad.
