Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku addressed residents of Kiambu County during a wedding celebration in Lari on Saturday. His remarks focused on urging support for the current government and dismissing opposition claims.
Ruku spoke at the wedding of Lari MP Kahangara, emphasizing the importance of steadfast support for the government amidst what he described as political maneuvering.
Ruku stated that the Kenya Kwanza administration is dedicated to improving livelihoods, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing public service delivery. He affirmed his commitment to defending the administration led by President William Ruto until 2032, highlighting the government’s dedication to its development agenda nationwide.
The Cabinet Secretary accused opposition leaders of attempting to distort historical facts, pointing out that many previously held significant government positions without implementing substantial reforms. He argued that they lack credibility in offering solutions now after failing to act when in power.
Ruku specifically criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, characterizing his political actions as “chest-thumping politics” and questioning claims of political dominance in the Mt Kenya region. He referenced the recent Mbeere North by-election as evidence against such claims.
Leo Wamuthende’s victory in the Mbeere North by-election, defeating candidates aligned with Gachagua’s camp, was cited as a demonstration of shifting political dynamics. Ruku interpreted the outcome as a message that leadership is earned through service and development, rather than intimidation or political rhetoric.
Ruku reiterated the government’s dedication to empowering youth, strengthening human capital development, and improving public sector service delivery. He encouraged Kiambu residents to prioritize national unity and development-focused politics over divisive narratives.
The Cabinet Secretary concluded by stating that the government’s focus is on delivering results and requested that Kenyans evaluate the administration based on its work. He reiterated the commitment to protecting and defending the administration as it strives to improve all regions of the country.
