AS FAR head coach Alexandre Santos believes his team’s progression to the CAF Champions League final demonstrates their standing among Africa’s top clubs. The Moroccan side secured their place in the final by defeating RS Berkane in the semi-finals.
AS FAR advanced to the final after a 2-1 aggregate victory over RS Berkane. The second leg concluded with a narrow 1-0 win for Berkane, but AS FAR’s 2-0 victory in the first leg secured their passage.
Alexandre Santos acknowledged the strength of RS Berkane, stating they deserved to be in the final. He noted that Morocco now has two high-level clubs competing in the Champions League. Santos praised his team’s performance, highlighting their efforts to attack and their ability to remain compact and united despite conceding a goal.
AS FAR will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the final. Sundowns are appearing in their second consecutive Champions League final, having lost to Pyramids last year.
AS FAR is the third Moroccan club to reach the CAF Champions League final, joining Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca, the latter of whom have secured two titles.
