SportPesa Kenya predicts growth through 2026

Written by on January 21, 2026

SportPesa Kenya began 2026 with a focus on growth following a year marked by legal resolutions and milestones in sports and community engagement. Chief Executive Officer Ronald Karauri highlighted the company’s resilience in a competitive market and its efforts to address ongoing legal matters.

Legal Resolutions

SportPesa Kenya achieved a significant victory in a London High Court case involving former shareholder Paul Ndungu. The court dismissed Ndungu’s claims alleging unlawful dilution of his shareholding and found no evidence of fraud or conspiracy. The court subsequently ordered Ndungu to pay interim costs totaling approximately £2.15 million (Ksh 370 million), including payments to SportPesa Global Holdings Limited and the directors.

Separately, the Kenya High Court affirmed the lawful right of Milestone Games Limited to use the SportPesa trademark, resolving a dispute regarding its assignment and legitimacy. According to Karauri, these rulings provide a foundation of legal certainty for the company.

Commitment to Kenyan Sport

Founded in 2014, SportPesa has consistently supported Kenyan sports, particularly through the SportPesa League. The company plans to deepen this commitment in 2026 with over 100 planned events and activations across various sports, including football, rugby, motorsport, boxing, and basketball.

The SportPesa League program will continue throughout the year, alongside expanded support for rugby through the HSBC SVNS series and Shujaa tournaments. Investment in motorsport will include the Safari Rally and a national autocross series. The company will also launch Tujiamini 3.0, a community engagement initiative, and Cheza Dimba grassroots tournaments.

SportPesa is sponsoring the Kenya Rugby Union’s hosting of the HSBC SVNS series in Nairobi, ensuring Kenyan athletes compete on a world-class stage.

Customer Milestone

This month, a woman won KSh 80 million on the Aviator game, attracting national attention and highlighting growing inclusion within Kenya’s gaming community.

Future Focus

SportPesa Kenya plans to continue investing in Kenyan sport, strengthening responsible gaming practices, expanding community programs, and delivering experiences for customers. The company anticipates continued growth and national impact in the year ahead.
