SportPesa Urges Independent Investigation of FKF, Remains Dedicated to Kenyan Football

SportPesa Calls for Independent Investigation into FKF, Reaffirms Commitment to Kenyan Football

SportPesa has issued a call for a thorough and independent investigation into the ongoing challenges facing the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), while simultaneously reinforcing its dedication to the continued growth of football in Kenya.

In a statement released on April 27, 2026, the leading betting firm emphasized its focus on the stability, integrity, and overall development of the sport. As the title sponsors of the SportPesa League and a long-term partner through a 10-year agreement, SportPesa remains deeply invested in the broader Kenyan sports ecosystem.

The company highlighted the significant progress Kenyan football has achieved in recent years. These successes include the successful hosting of the CHAN 2025 tournament, the historic qualification of the Junior Starlets for their first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Harambee Starlets’ qualification for WAFCON 2026, and Kenya’s hosting of the FIFA Women’s Series.

Furthermore, SportPesa acknowledged improvements within the domestic league, noting better organization, increased visibility for clubs and players, and stronger partnerships with commercial entities. Efforts to rebuild trust in football governance, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and strengthen national team structures have also contributed positively to the game’s advancement.

While recognizing these positive developments, SportPesa addressed the recent allegations under review, stressing the importance of due process and adherence to proper procedures for any proposed leadership changes within FKF.

“We call for a swift, transparent, and fair resolution that upholds accountability while safeguarding the integrity and progress of Kenyan football,” the statement read.

SportPesa underscored that the interests of players, clubs, supporters, and the wider sports economy must remain paramount in all decisions concerning the future of the game.
