Trump strikes SA after G20 Summit, bags of cash and bribery – Political analyst unpacks week

JOHANNESBURG – From US President Donald Trump reacting to South Africa’s successful hosting of the G20 Summit to bags of cash, bribery and links to drug cartels, it was a hectic week.

And Political analyst Brutus Malada joined eNCA to unpack these two big stories.

Soon after the summit wrapped up at NASREC, Trump announced that South Africa would not be invited to his Miami resort for next year’s gathering.

Political analyst Brutus Malada says this may only be the beginning of tensions between Pretoria and Washington.

He predicts more drama is coming, including the possibility of Trump imposing sanctions on senior ANC leaders and other political figures.

This as Malada describes Trump as a “specter haunting the soul of the world* saying Trump the is out to “torment South Africa, especially President Cyril Ramaphosa.”

Another major story this week also drew national attention — this time at Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre.

The Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee heard explosive testimony from alleged underworld boss Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala, whose appearance heavily implicated former Police Minister Bheki Cele.

Also weighing in on this Malada said Matlala has nothing to loose and is willing to spill the beans.
