YIMBiK Seeks Program Coordinator for 2026 Launch

YIMBiK has announced an opening for a Program Coordinator position. YIMBiK (Young Innovators in Microbiology, Biotechnology & Innovation Kenya) is dedicated to strengthening scientific research capacity, supporting youth leadership, and driving impact-focused programs in microbiology and biotechnology. The organization aims to address global health challenges and improve food security through innovation and collaborative partnerships, positioning itself as a hub for emerging researchers, fellows, and innovators.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator role is a contract, part-time, or full-time position (based on program needs) with a remote or hybrid work arrangement. The application deadline is March 31, 2026 (11:59 PM EAT), and the anticipated start date is April 2026. The Program Coordinator will be central to the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of YIMBiK’s initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Program Coordinator will coordinate programs, fellowships, internships, and research initiatives. Responsibilities include managing timelines, deliverables, and reporting systems; supporting the recruitment and engagement of interns, fellows, and partners; monitoring performance indicators and program progress; organizing workshops, meetings, and virtual sessions; preparing technical and administrative reports; supporting partnerships and stakeholder communication; and ensuring compliance with organizational standards and quality frameworks. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Public Health, Life Sciences, Project Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an advantage. Experience in program management, research coordination, or project administration is required, along with strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills, and digital literacy, including proficiency in Google Workspace and virtual collaboration platforms. The ability to work independently and maintain high productivity is also essential. Experience within research, innovation, or development-focused programs is highly desirable.

Preferred Competencies

Competitive candidates may have experience managing research or fellowship programs, knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks, grant or proposal management experience, and experience working with NGOs or youth innovation initiatives. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities are also preferred.
