Yoshi Featured in New ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ Movie Preview

Following a brief tease in the first film’s post-credits scene, the first look at Yoshi, Mario and Luigi’s dinosaur sidekick, has been released.

Nintendo held a special Direct stream, and it focused on Mario’s next theatrical adventure, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Character Voice Cast

The first trailer revealed that Brie Larson will voice Princess Rosalina and Benny Safdi will voice Bowser Jr., the film’s antagonist.

Yoshi’s Role in the Film

The second trailer highlighted Yoshi, showcasing his adorable appearance in film format. Yoshi will play a significant role in the film’s narrative, mirroring his role in the video game Yoshi’s Island, where he is tasked with protecting baby versions of Mario and Luigi.

Additional Trailer Content

The latest trailer included more than just Yoshi; it also featured numerous easter eggs from various Super Mario games, including Mario Galaxy.

Returning Cast Members

Chris Pratt returns as the voice of Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Production Status and Release Date

Illumination’s Chris Meledandri announced that the film’s animation is complete and it is currently in post-production, with teams focusing on sound design and music. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to be released in theaters in April.
