Following a brief tease in the first film’s post-credits scene, the first look at Yoshi, Mario and Luigi’s dinosaur sidekick, has been released.
Nintendo held a special Direct stream, and it focused on Mario’s next theatrical adventure, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
The first trailer revealed that Brie Larson will voice Princess Rosalina and Benny Safdi will voice Bowser Jr., the film’s antagonist.
The second trailer highlighted Yoshi, showcasing his adorable appearance in film format. Yoshi will play a significant role in the film’s narrative, mirroring his role in the video game Yoshi’s Island, where he is tasked with protecting baby versions of Mario and Luigi.
The latest trailer included more than just Yoshi; it also featured numerous easter eggs from various Super Mario games, including Mario Galaxy.
Chris Pratt returns as the voice of Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Illumination’s Chris Meledandri announced that the film’s animation is complete and it is currently in post-production, with teams focusing on sound design and music. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to be released in theaters in April.
