Africa Creator Economy Report 2.0 Released

Written by on January 29, 2026

The second edition of a research report examining the state of the African creator economy has been released. Developed in partnership with Technology Media (TM) Global, the report builds upon the 2024 Africa Creator Report and details findings from 2025 research into the structure of the continent’s creator economy.

Report Overview

The report, titled “The Business of Creativity: Funding and Sustaining African Creators,” highlights the growing significance of the African creator economy, which has transitioned from a peripheral aspect of digital culture to a central point of economic and social discussion. Millions of young Africans are utilizing digital platforms to express themselves, build communities, and generate income. The report aims to provide data-driven insights into how these creator businesses operate, scale, and maintain sustainability.

Key Findings and Metrics

The research provides specific data regarding how African creators generate revenue, their scaling strategies, and the challenges impacting their long-term viability. To better understand the industry’s complexities, the report introduces new frameworks, including the Audience Anchor Ratio.

The Audience Anchor Ratio is a novel metric designed to assess the depth of engagement, loyalty, and monetization potential within a creator’s audience. It moves beyond simple reach and follower counts to reveal how creator-audience dynamics across African countries influence content growth, innovation, policy, and monetization outcomes.
